  Setting up punch rounding rules Adding a rounding rule To add a rounding rule: Go to  Administration  >  Punch Time Entry  >  Rounding Rules . Click  Add Rounding Rule . Choose the type of rounding: Grace Period Rounding If a shift worker punches in within  x  minutes of their shift start time, the punch is rounded to the start time. The same applies when punching out at the end of their shift. Requires the  Scheduling  add-on. Interval Rounding Punch times are rounded to a specified fraction of an hour, such as 15 minute intervals. Custom Script Used for custom rounding logic. 7-Minute Rule for Time Keeping

  Clocking in and out at work is stressful when you know you are running late or need to clock out just a bit early to beat the traffic home. Some employers have rules in place to make these tiny time infractions easier to manage on a paycheck since splitting minutes into cents on the dollar is not easy for most businesses or payment systems. Other businesses use exact time, which does not round the clock-in time up or down. Known as the “seven-minute rule," the rule rounds unworked time to the nearest 15-minute increment. Resolving Exceptions for Overtime Hours

  To resolve an exception created by overtime hours: From the Time & Attendance menu, select  Home . Note:  If the Home option is not visible, make sure that you have selected  Manager  in the Role Selector. In the Exceptions column, click  Overtime Hours Found . A new page will display a list of all of the time pairs containing overtime hours. Tip:  To view more detailed information about a time pair in the list, click the icon in the  Status  column. Review the actual recorded time and the scheduled time on each row. For each overtime time pair that is acceptable, click the  Note  check box in the Solutions column. Note:  The "Note" solution is the only automatic solution available for resolving overtime hours exceptions.
